March 21, 2012

From Citizenlink:

Before the U.S. Supreme Court begins hearing three days of arguments on the constitutionality of the new federal health care law on Monday, thousands of people are expected to make their voices heard in rallies taking place nationwide, saying the law violates their religious freedom.

Nearly 60 groups, including the Pro-Life Action League, Citizens for a Pro-Life America, Students for Life of America and the Alliance Defense Fund, have joined forces as the Coalition to Stop the HHS Mandate, and are sponsoring rallies in more than 120 cities nationwide at noon local time on Friday.

There are several locations in Pennsylvania. Find out more at standupforreligiousfreedom.com.

Health Mandate Now to Include College Students

March 19, 2012

From Lifesitenews.com:

In a move that is likely to reignite the ire of religious leaders, late Friday afternoon the Obama administration announced a proposal that would require universities, including religious universities, to provide contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs to their students, as well as their employees, without a co-pay. This appears to significantly widen the originally-announced HHS mandate, which had only applied to employees.

Voter Registration Deadline Days Away! Are You Registered?

March 16, 2012

This year, the Pennsylvania Presidential Primary is a competitive one. Make sure you get out to vote in April!

You’ll get to vote for president of the United States, but will also vote on offices closer to home: your state representative and state senator, US representative in Congress and US senator.

Read the news on any given day and you’ll find that often it is local officials that make decisions that directly affect you, your family, your business, your church and your neighbors.

How are your elected officials doing to represent your values? You can become part of the answer only if you’re firstregistered to vote by March 26th, then get out and vote on Election Day! If you’ll be 18 by Election Day, make sure you register as well!

Are you registered to vote? How about your family, friends and church? Did you know polls show that as many as half of those sitting around us in our churches either are not registered to vote or don’t show up at the polls?! You can help change that!

Hold a “Voter Registration Sunday.” The registration deadline is next Monday, March 26, so you only have this Sunday, March 18 and next Sunday, March 25, advertise it in your church bulletin with the help of your pastor, set up a small table with the forms and information and you’re set! Just be sure to get those forms back to the county elections offices by March 27th.

You can find voter registration forms at your local County board of elections or online at www.votespa.com.

Watch for Pennsylvania Family Institute’s 2012 Primary Voters’ Guide for the April 24 Primary Electionavailable online at www.PAFamily.org before the election.

Contraception Mandate – About the Constitution, Not Contraception

March 16, 2012

From State Rep Tim Krieger, R-Westmoreland:

Since this mandate gained wide public attention, there has been no discussion by the administration of the legal and constitutional questions involved. Instead, the Obama administration and its allies on the left have done their best to muddy the waters of the debate by framing it in terms of “women’s health” and “reproductive freedom,” suggesting in the process that their opponents want to make the use of contraceptives illegal. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Lies Uncovered – Abortions will be Paid for by Taxpayers

March 15, 2012

From Alan Sears, our Pittsburgh banquet speaker on May 24:

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, i.e., ObamaCare, was being debated in public and in Congress during 2010, Americans who supported life were told again and again that the legislation would not cover abortion. But like so many other aspects of Obama’s healthcare overhaul, what was promised and what was received turned out to be two different things – especially considering that many legislators read the bill only after they signed it into law.
