Join Others in Supporting Religious Freedom on Friday!

Before the U.S. Supreme Court begins hearing three days of arguments on the constitutionality of the new federal health care law on Monday, thousands of people are expected to make their voices heard in rallies taking place nationwide, saying the law violates their religious freedom.

Nearly 60 groups, including the Pro-Life Action League, Citizens for a Pro-Life America, Students for Life of America and the Alliance Defense Fund, have joined forces as the Coalition to Stop the HHS Mandate, and are sponsoring rallies in more than 120 cities nationwide at noon local time on Friday.

Health Mandate Now to Include College Students

In a move that is likely to reignite the ire of religious leaders, late Friday afternoon the Obama administration announced a proposal that would require universities, including religious universities, to provide contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs to their students, as well as their employees, without a co-pay. This appears to significantly widen the originally-announced HHS mandate, which had only applied to employees.

Contraception Mandate is about Religious Freedom, Not Contraception

President Obama’s mandate that Catholic organizations must provide free birth control to their employees is a violation of their religious freedom. His “compromise” is not a compromise at all.

Here’s what Chuck Colson has to say about it:

 why does this matter? Why is it really such a big deal? The Administration is hoping you will think this is all about contraception, which not many people, even the majority of Catholics, care that much about. But this is not about contraception. This battle is all about religious freedom—the first and most important of all our freedoms.
